Your creative side will be highlighted today, V. You could be in the mood to listen to your favorite CD's or take in an exciting musical concert. Your appreciation for the arts could inspire you to see a great movie. Or you might try reading a classic work of literature. Let yourself absorb beauty and inspiration today. Your spirit will be moved by the rhythms and colors that are around you.
Now, it is possible they'll have music on during the surgery. It is four to five hours, after all. I don't think they'll have a chamber orchestra in the room, though. Movie? Saw, maybe? Probably won't be reading, either, though I might have the same state of consciousness I had when I was reading in college. I'll take all the beauty and inspiration I can get. Colors? Now, those I'll probably be seeing -- black and blue, most likely.
I actually was able to go to sleep last night and slept most of the way through. Even though it was apnea sleep (the last night of that, if all goes as planned), it was good not to lie away all night thinking about this morning.
Mary and I went for a nice, long walk yesterday in the late afternoon. Chapel Hill has beautiful greenways that lead through the campus and much of town. Dinner was at Whole Foods (I can hear my co-workers groaning).
I'm to report to the hospital at 9:30. I think my surgery is around 10:30 or so.
This is it. ...

Hey Vaughn. Whole Foods has got some great soups for those who can't eat their delicious breads, cheeses, pizzas, etc. Hungry yet? As a matter of fact I was at the WHOLE FOODS HEADQUARTERS in Austin, Texas last week. Jealous? Sorry. Hope you're doing well today, post op. We miss your jawbonin' around the newsroom.
